PREGNANCY / PARENTING

by Susan Alexnader

There are lots of Websites out there on these topics. Most of the good ones are very similar and loyalty will be based largely on taste. All of my High Fives cover both and have links to pregnancy specific sites. (Visit this fun, personalized, day-by-day pregnancy calendar.) There are many that are not very good and many other good ones that are very specific, e.g. single mothers by choice, parenting children with specific disabilities, parenting adopted children, twins, etc.

1. Parents Place
A full-service site with chat rooms, bulletin boards, frequently asked questions, and advice from various experts. Visitors can sign up for a weekly newsletter. The site is also extensively linked to others and serves other sites, too.

2. Parent Soup
A very efficient site with easy navigation both top and bottom. Has message boards with stories and advice from other visitors and a directory of parenting organizations nationwide.

3. ParenthoodWeb
Much like the above two with an extensive library, newsletter, questions answered by experts and lots of links. It also has feedback following articles. Best of all, it's not weighted down with lots of graphics.

4. Parenting Q&A
The best Q & A. It answers all questions submitted unlike any of the others. It also provides access to all answers.

5. Positive Parenting
Very similar to the others with a market, articles, chats, etc. In addition it includes an extensive list of local resources and is available in Spanish.
